Friday Oct 02, 2020
We go BEYOND the future, into a universe you've never heard before. Ivan Reitman produced the animated Heavy Metal in 1981, and it’s more important to his career than you might realise:
-Learn WHY Reitman produced it. The answer lies in the offices of National Lampoon.
-Meet Michael C. Gross and other artists who’ll help create the art, tech & monsters for Ghostbusters!
-Ninja Turtles connections!
-Canadian actors, eh.
-Learn how Taarna is connected to both French artist Moebius, and Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki.
-Plutonium nyborg!

Happy Holidays: The Real Ghostbusters "XMas Marks The Spot"
Saturday Dec 21, 2019
Saturday Dec 21, 2019
The calendar might say it's December of 2019, but we can travel back to celebrate in 1986 with The Real Ghostbusters! Plus we travel to 1843... and 1837? And 1994? Man, ghosts are taking us all over on this holiday retrospective. But yes, we look at "XMas Marks The Spot," written by J. Michael Straczynski and directed by Richard Raynis. Highlights include:
-Secrets of Japanese animation studios.
-Victorians' interest in ghost stories at Christmas.
-Peter Venkman's childhood.
-Seeing inside the ecto-containment unit.
It's all my gift to you. Happy Holidays, everyone.

Happy Halloween: The Ghost Breakers
Thursday Oct 31, 2019
Thursday Oct 31, 2019
Happy Halloween! We're watching a ghost busting, ghost crashing, ghost smashing, Abbott & Costello meeting sort of film that helped inspire Dan Aykroyd. From 1940 it's The Ghost Breakers starring Bob Hope and Paulette Goddard.
How spooky is it? Not very.
How funny is it? Passable.
How racist is it? Considerable at times.

Friday May 31, 2019
One of the news stories that accompanied the 2016 Ghostbusters movie was how it was "banned" from mainland China for depicting the supernatural. But is that what really happened? And what chances does Ghostbusters 2020 have playing there?
